Which meters a service turns, and the one thing people get wrong about each. No rates — those move; the meters do not.
Compute

- Amazon Elastic File System (EFS)Billed on: Time, Bytes. Not billed on: Calls.Storage is half of it. Under Elastic throughput every GB you read or write is metered too.
- Amazon File CacheBilled on: Time, Bytes. Not billed on: Calls.Provisioned like a file system. You buy cache capacity by the GB-month, warm or empty.
- Amazon FSxBilled on: Time, Bytes, Calls.Four different file systems share one name. SSD capacity, throughput and IOPS are each their own line item.
- Amazon S3Billed on: Time, Bytes, Calls.Storage is the dull part of the bill. Requests and outbound bytes are what actually surprise people.
