Storage

Amazon S3

  • Timebilled
  • Bytesbilled
  • Callsbilled

In one line

Storage is the dull part of the bill. Requests and outbound bytes are what actually surprise people.

What gets missed

PUT, COPY, POST and LIST run over ten times the per-request price of GET, and DELETE is free. Standard-IA rounds objects up to 128 KB and holds them 30 days; Glacier classes hold 90 days, Deep Archive 180.

Find it on your bill

Filter Cost Explorer or your Cost and Usage Report by these usage types. A usage type with no region prefix means us-east-1.

Bills the same way

These services turn exactly the same meters, so what you learn here transfers.
