What gets missed
Chasing unattached EIPs used to be the entire optimisation; attached ones now bill at the identical rate. Both land on the PublicIPv4 usage types, so use lineItem/Operation to tell them apart.
Find it on your bill
Filter Cost Explorer or your Cost and Usage Report by these usage types. A usage type with no region prefix means us-east-1.
