ひとことで言うと
Per GB of traffic that leaves a Region, crosses Availability Zones, or goes out to the internet.
見落とすところ
Traffic that never leaves AWS still bills: cross-AZ chatter is charged per GB in both directions, and cross-Region copies are charged on the way out. Inbound from the internet is free, which is why egress is the shock.
